How To Shop Walgreen's

Shopping at Walgreen's can seem confusing at first, but offers a great reward system making stockpiling eashy and fast!  Read through this guide and give it a try!

COUPON POLICY

Before shopping Wlagreen’s you’ll want to head over here to print the Walgreens coupon policy. Familiarize yourself with it and bring it with you whenever you shop there! If any issues come up, this policy should help resolve the problem!

REGISTER REWARDS
*Register rewards (RR) are manufacturers coupons that print after you have completed a transaction. They print from a Catalina machine at the register . The RR’s print out when you purchase a participating product and/or products. These products are usually noted in the ad. There are some RR’s that are not in the ad but you may see signs for these in the store or I’ll let you know of hidden ones when I hear of them!

*RR’s can be used on your next purchase at Walgreens but here’s where it gets a little tricky. RR’s ARE manufacturer coupons. Therefore, when you go to use a RR, you need to remember that only ONE RR or manufacterers coupon per item purchased can be used. For instance, if you are buying 4 deodorants and you have 4 manufacturers coupons and a RR, the register will beep. So you’ll need to find a “filler” item to add to your purchase. Filler items, like clearance items, candy, pencils, etc. are inexpensive items to add to your order. So, now you have 4 deodorants and 1 pencil and you can use 4 manufacturers coupons and 1 RR. Just be sure that the number of items in your purchase are the same or more than the number of Manufacturer Coupons and RR’s combined. (Walgreens store coupons do NOT count towards your coupon to item ratio)

*If you purchase more than one of the same item that offers a RR’S in one transaction, only one RR will print (not 2)!!! If you want more of that item, you will need to separate your transactions.

*You may purchase DIFFERNET items that offer RR’S in the same transaction and you will get one RR for each DIFFERENT RR item purchased.

*RR’s do NOT roll! This means that if you get RR for purchasing deodorant, you CANNOT use the same RR to purchase another deodorant and get another RR back!

*You CAN use RR’s from a RR deal to pay for a DIFFERENT RR deal. For instance, you can use a RR from a deodorant to pay for shampoo that will generate a RR. This will lower your out of pocket expense.

*If a RR does not print, check to see that the Catalina machine is on (you should see a blinking green light). Nezt, be sure you bought EXACTLY the product that was advertised as part of the deal. If you still feel that you should have received a RR, you can ask the cashier to delete the transaction and ring you up again. You can also just leave the store and call the Catalina company. The Catalina number is 1-888-8coupon. You will need your receipt and tell them what items you bought that should have issued the RR. They will \ review your transaction; if you should have gotten a RR, they will mail one to you in 2-3 weeks.

WALGREENS COUPONS

*Walgreens coupons can be found in the weekly ad, coupon booklets found in the store, from the pharmacy and even online. Save your printer ink though because the ones online are the same as what’s in the monthly coupon book.

*Walgreens coupons do NOT count towards your coupon to item ratio. This means that the register will not beep if you use more Walgreen’s coupons than items.

*When you are stacking a Walgreens coupon and a manufacturer coupon, ALWAYS give the manufacturer coupons to the cashier first!! Then give them the Walgreens store coupons. This is very important when, by using both coupons, your final cost results in coupon overage to go towards other items. If you use the manufacturer coupon after the Walgreens store coupon it will beep because the value of the coupon is higher than the item… BUT if you hand the manufacturer coupon over first, the Walgreens register doesn’t know this. Both coupons will go through without beeps and your overage will go towards other items!!

A FEW THINGS TO REMEMBER:

*You may contact the store manager and place an order if you are wanting to buy a large quantity of a sale item (you can order up to 99 of a particular item in advance). You will most likely have to pay for the order in advance, so be sure to have all of your coupons!

*If you need to do multiple transactions, ask to check out at the cosmetics counter. I always do this at Walgreens because it is not as crowded and the cashiers have time to deal with all the coupons. Plus, they usually understand what we’re doing better!

*Buy One Get One Free Items: If there is a BOGO or a Buy Get One 50% Off promotion, you CAN use 2 coupons for the items. You can also use a BOGO coupon for items that are part of a BOGO promotion making both items FREE! This is especially when you need your coupon policy with you which says “When items are featured in a Buy One, Get One Free promotion, up to two coupons can be used against the items being purchased, as long as the net price does not go below zero for the items being purchased.”

*If you have a problem with a cashier, ask to speak to the store manager. If you are still unable to resolve the issue, note the manager’s name and the time the incident occurred and call Customer Service. The phone number is 1-800-WALGREENS or 1-800-925-4733 or you send an email.
